Family Home Evening

When I was little we used to have great family home evenings. Not structured at all but so fun. My parents would play Sevens and Spoons and when we got older chicken-line and dominoes and Monopoly and fast rummy quay. Then we got into Rook and then Settlers of Catan. Some families cheat in games for fun but we play letter of the law and have a family cannon of rules that we have voted on and held councils on over the years.I also remember my dad taking us all to Forest Park to go swimming and going on the big rope swing. I always knew we were loved and the gospel was taught through my parents examples.

It has been a bit difficult establishing a routine of family home evening my own little family but we are plucking away and having a blast. Here is a movie and picture from our latest night. We made an obstacle course into the rec room off the mini tramp onto the couch. As James would run from the fireplace to the couch our cat Alice Nemo would pounce him. I loved making this obstacle when I was little too. Then we ate Popsicles and played Wii Fit. James is pretty good at the penguin level with a little bit of help from Jay.

I'm loving your silhouettes on the header. Way to go on the FHE's too. What did Elder Bednar say. . . every FHE is a brushstroke on your soul? Something like that. That's what I'm trying to remember when our activities aren't as succesful in reality as they are in my mind.

Awesome! You guys will be blessed for your efforts to establish FHE. The important thing is spending time as a family and making it fun. It looks like you definately did that! Good job.
