They Might be Giants

Jay and I saw They Might Be Giants last night in Seattle! Happy early Christmas to me. This is a band that I soooo wanted to catch in concert before I died. It did not disappoint. Recently I have been introducing James to the children's albums Here comes the 123's and ABC's and their new one about science. This is music that both of us can love unlike Dora the Explorer songs like Map that make me want to shoot the tv. So I recently been really into their new song about the elements (see music video below) and they started the concert off with it! Yay! I first heard the band sing Ana Ng when I was about 12 and totally fell in love with it. I then had a mixed tape made for me by my friend Dana Olsen and it had the song Fingertips on it. This song and the album Apollo 18 shaped my teenaged years. Tiny Toon Adventures also introduced me to the song Particle Man. I love the intellectual zany lyrics and the chord progressions. My ears are still ringing from last night and I am a bit sore from standing for 3 hours and being elbowed by the crazy drunk women who were standing in front of me but it was all worth it to hear the band sing The Sun is a mass of incandescent gas and the answer song Why the sun really shines the Sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma and their finale Finger Tips!
