The Swing

The Swing
by Robert Louis Stevenson
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

So I bought this swing second hand and we set it up where I used to have a swing set when I was little. We put James in and my mom started reciting this poem. It is so cool because there is this line about over the garden and this swing goes over the garden too. James loves this!

How fun! I wish we had a good tree for a swing. I'll have to look into attaching one to our back porch and then try not to swing it too high. I'm sure Benjamin would love that too.
One of my very favorite poems, by the way! I memorized that in 1st grade and to this day I can still recite it from memory. Classic.

Swings are great. Konner has loved swings since he was a baby. Kaylin not so much though....
