Happy Mothers Day! Today has been my first real mothers day and one of the best days of my life. I woke up to a sweet gift of bubble bath from Bath and Bodyworks and Proactive face wash. The face wash might seem like a weird gift but I have always wanted to try it. We have 8:00am church and they asked me to speak in Sacrament meeting. Jay took James for the meetings and I got to listen to all the talks. It was great! My favorite Quote I shared with my ward is from Sister Holland. wanted I felt like I needed to make sure that the those who didn't have children felt loved and understood.
"Eve was given the identity of “the mother of all living”—years, decades, perhaps centuries before she ever bore a child. It would appear that her motherhood preceded her maternity, just as surely as the perfection of the Garden preceded the struggles of mortality. I believe mother is one of those very carefully chosen words, one of those rich words—with meaning after meaning after meaning. We must not, at all costs, let that word divide us. I believe with all my heart that it is first and foremost a statement about our nature, not a head count of our children."(Ensign Oct. 1987)
So I came home from Church and we put James down for a nap and I took a three hour nap and when I awoke Jay was making me my favorite Korean Dinner! I then called Mom in Jerusalem because I just had to talk to her. She told me the sweetest story of how they were all given olive oil from their bus drivers olive farm and that they had the opportunity to consecrate it in the Garden of Gethsemane and how Dad consecrated olive oil on his knees privately. How powerful and humble. I can't wait to hear the rest of their stories. We are going to call Jay's Mom tonight and continue watching a mini series called the Winds of War. We are totally sucked into it and have a free library close and have been enjoying it's benefits. It also has amazing puppet shows for James. Although I am really tired a lot, I love being a mother so much and I am so grateful for James and Jay.

I kind of had the same kind of day-although i didn't have to speak thank goodness! WE must have good husbands! I have also wanted to try proactive so you will have to tell me how you like it. Happy Mothers Day!
Whoa... Susie, you and I are totally in sync with each other or something. I was thinking of that quote by Pat Holland today and was trying to remember exactly what she said and which Ensign issue it was in... And then voila! Susie delivers. You're amazing!
Tangent... it reminds me of the good old undergraduate days. Whenever I had the urge to randomly bump into you on campus on a given day, I would use the Schopenhauer technique from Life is Beautiful. I would say "Susie Susie Susie" and you would always appear in the Wilke within 5 minutes. Never failed. Amazing!
Hey Lizzy: I will totally tell you how proactive works for me and yes we have sweet husbands! It is so cool your mom has a pool with a little wade area perfect for London. I want to bring James over.
Alyssa, that is so cool that you were thinking of that quote. It is so powerful! You know how to make me feel so special; thank you.
Susie, it sounds like things are going so well for you. I am so happy for you and Jay. I pray for you often and hope to see you this summer when we come visit.
love, becca
